There have been many Ogopogo sightings witnessed through the years on Okanagan Lake in the Southern Interior of British Columbia.
The sightings go back to the 19th century and the First Nations people spotting this sea serpent in the deep lake waters.
The first recorded sighting by a white person was in 1872 by Mrs. Susan Allison, a B.C. pioneer and author.
The first alleged recorded film of the creature was made in 1968 by Art Holding.
The film shows a dark object propelling itself through shallow water near the shore of Okanagan Lake.
Many Ogopogo sightings have been shown on You Tube. I have picked out some of the best so that you may change your opinion either way on the existence of a real life sea monster!
These first few videos are of people who are recording something moving in the lake waters but are not sure what it may be.
These next videos show Dan Basaraba of Kelowna, BC and his Ogopogo sightings recorded in excellent quality.
The first video has a short interview and his footage taken on July 9, 2001.
This video is again of Don Basaraba but it has a more in depth interview and more of his recordings.
The amazing thing that is shown here is that exactly one year later to the day he records another video at the same spot in Peachland, BC of something moving in Okanagan Lake.
Now is that coincidence or what!
In early 1990 an American television program called "Unsolved Mysteries" aired a two part episode about the Ogopogo monster.
There is also information on here of the famous Loch Ness Monster of Scotland.
Another popular television program, "In Search Of" and hosted by Leonard Nimoy did a show on the Ogopogo.
The three part episode aired in January of 1978 and was named "The Ogopogo Monster".
A search for the Ogo Pogo was made in Okanagan Lake in the first week of November 2008.
The History Channel filmed a documentary and came away with a partly-decayed carcass of an unknown species.
It was found in an underground cave on Rattlesnake Island, believed by many to be the home of the Ogopogo.
If you click here you will go to this fascinating program and see the search for yourself.
A more recent video of a possible Ogopogo sighting was taken by Westbank resident Richard Huls in October of 2011. This is short video footage but there is something big moving in the waters of Okanagan Lake.
Some people dispute any photo or video evidence of showing something lurking in the depths of Okanagan Lake.
But the ones that have seen and recorded footage of the movement in otherwise calm waters are true believers of a real life sea monster living in this lake.
The evidence has been provided. You be the judge.
