Crystal Mountain Resort is a small ski resort found in the Central Okanagan region of British Columbia, Canada.

The resort offers loads of fun in a winter wonderland.

This is the mountain to visit for those looking to experience one of the famous Okanagan ski resorts but at budget prices compared to some of the big name hills.

And the famous Okanagan "powder" is here for you to ski and snowboard to your heart's content. You have to experience this snow to really appreciate how good it really is!

When you want to warm up after a few hours in the cold there is an excellent day lodge for you to step into. The lodge includes a cafeteria, a pub lounge, a ski rental shop and more.

There is a ski school here also that offers programs for kids and adults to improve on their skills. There are even private lessons available for yourself or a group.

The snowboarders in the crowd might want to check out the Rankins Rut Terrain Park. This is a real cool area for you to practice your moves.

If you are into snowshoeing there are guided tours available through Selah Outdoor Explorations , a great company that also designed the many trails on the mountain.

A Little History

snow covered trees at crystal mountain resort Crystal Mountain Resort was originally developed as a small ski hill for the people of Westbank BC by a local family. It was opened in December of 1967 and called Last Mountain Ski Resort.

In 1992 the ski area was purchased by Crystal Mountain Resorts Ltd. and the name was changed to Crystal Mountain.

The new owners figured that this name reminded people more of the snow which is bright and cheery.

The Crystal Mountain Ski Resort used to have both night and day skiing available to the families who visited here.

Crystal Mountain has had expansion plans for the resort since 1997. It wants to become an all seasons resort.

Some of the accommodations that are being discussed are a conference centre and exhibition area, a golf course, a tea house, hotels, bed & breakfasts and much more.

The people of Kelowna, Westbank and all of the Okanagan are hoping this becomes a reality in the near future.

Another world-class ski resort with the full services of some of the other Okanagan resorts can only be a positive for tourism and another reason for people to find out more about the beautiful Okanagan region.
