About Me

Hi and welcome! My name is Gord and I am the face behind this Okanagan Valley Guide website.

I don't know about you but whenever I visit a website I like to check out the "about me" or "about us" page to find out who is giving me the information I am after.

I built this site because I love the Okanagan and I wanted to share what I have learned and discovered from living in what I can only describe as a paradise.

I was born in Vancouver on the south coast of the province of British Columbia in Canada. I grew up there and then moved several times to different communities in the Vancouver area.

As an adult I vacationed many times in the Okanagan Valley region, which is only about a five hour drive from the coast. I have stayed at most of the communities in the Okanagan and have enjoyed every single one of them.

The hot summer weather the Okanagan is famous for and the endless activities brought me back here year after year.

I decided I had to find a way to make the Okanagan my permanent home.

A work-related transfer made my dreams come true in the summer of 1995. I moved to Vernon in the North Okanagan and I have enjoyed every moment of living here since!

This love for the Okanagan wasn't the only reason that I wanted to build this website. I have always worked the traditional "9 to 5" job and I was looking for something that might become a home-based business.

I searched the internet but all I could find were these "get rich quick" schemes that promised I could become a millionaire overnight with little or no effort on my part.
